Oh my goodness I will be 55 this July (2010), how time goes so quickly. Trev and I have been married since 1979 and have four sons. Mark, Stewart, Matt and Scott. Mark got married to Carly last September and own their own beautiful home, while Matt and Scott still live at home along with two young lodgers Mark and Gareth. Our house is always full of young people and I must admit that is how I love it. I work at a local family run garage doing their accounts and reception. The owners have been family friends for years and that certainly has helped with the working flexibility I’ve needed since Stewart sadly had his car accident.
As a family we are part of the local church, the Coign, and the support and love we have received over the last two and half years from them, our own families and close friends has been amazing. The encouragement, the practical help and assistance has enabled us to cope with all that has been thrown in our path.
All of our lives have changed through this tragic accident but we try to keep a level of normality for the benefit of our other three sons and also for Stewart when he comes home to stay each weekend.
My friendship with the ‘Devonshire Dudes’, (Anne, Judy, Lois and Sue) has been so important – these were people who could really identify with my pain, understand my feelings and listen to my concerns. The support of people who have been through or are going through a similar situation is paramount in coping with the emotional pressures that are part of the life we find ourselves in.
